Decoding motor imagery from the posterior parietal cortex of a tetraplegic human

چکیده
Fifth, we do not measure health outcomes in this demand study, but combining our results on reductions in OD with studies that measure the relationship between OD and health outcomes (14, 39–41) suggests that sanitation marketing interventions could plausibly produce improvements in health. Finally, the scale of this study, covering over 18,000 households and 100% samples of four subdistricts, allows us to document some of the general equilibrium changes operating via a social influence mechanism, but our results remain silent on wider general equilibrium effects operating via price mechanisms. Neurophysiology. Decoding motor imagery from the posterior parietal cortex of a tetraplegic human.
Nonhuman primate and human studies have suggested that populations of neurons in the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) may represent high-level aspects of action planning that can be used to control external devices as part of a brain-machine interface. However, there is no direct neuron-recording evidence that human PPC is involved in action planning, and the suitability of these signals for neu...
متن کاملMotor imagery of hand actions: Decoding the content of motor imagery from brain activity in frontal and parietal motor areas
How motor maps are organized while imagining actions is an intensely debated issue. It is particularly unclear whether motor imagery relies on action-specific representations in premotor and posterior parietal cortices. This study tackled this issue by attempting to decode the content of motor imagery from spatial patterns of Blood Oxygen Level Dependent (BOLD) signals recorded in the frontopar...

A brain machine interface (BMI) works by decoding the intentions of the user from patterns of neural activity. In this study, we seek to understand the reference frame of intention signals in the posterior parietal cortex of a tetraplegic human participating in a BMI clinical study e.g. whether intention signals are represented with respect to where the subject is looking, the current location ...
متن کاملNeural Topography and Content of Movement Representations
We have used implicit motor imagery to investigate the neural correlates of motor planning independently from actual movements. Subjects were presented with drawings of left or right hands and asked to judge the hand laterality, regardless of the stimulus rotation from its upright orientation. We paired this task with a visual imagery control task, in which subjects were presented with typograp...
متن کاملHand Shape Representations in the Human Posterior Parietal Cortex.
UNLABELLED Humans shape their hands to grasp, manipulate objects, and to communicate. From nonhuman primate studies, we know that visual and motor properties for grasps can be derived from cells in the posterior parietal cortex (PPC). Are non-grasp-related hand shapes in humans represented similarly? Here we show for the first time how single neurons in the PPC of humans are selective for parti...
